These bits are classified as Tri-Cut™ Ultra-Smooth because they feature three precision-ground flutes, cutting heads, and spurs (the outer cutting edge that scores the perimeter of the hole). They cut exceptionally cleanly because the spurs first score the hole’s edge before the cutter heads remove material. This unique Tri-Cut™ design creates extremely smooth holes with minimal blowout—and they require far less torque. This makes them ideal for use in hand braces with an adapter.
Each bit is hand-sharpened at the factory for enhanced cutting speed. Unlike cast or forged bits, these are milled and ground from solid steel round blanks. This precision machining ensures concentricity with minimal wobble, allowing for accurate hole diameters, reduced energy usage, and lower heat generation.
The sharp lead screws are precision-ground and machined to engage wood immediately when drilling begins. These screws pull the bit straight and true through all wood types with minimal wandering.
Constructed from high-carbon S55C steel specially formulated for WoodOwl, the cutting heads are fully induction hardened to 58 HRC. The flutes and outer surfaces are PTFE-coated to reduce friction, improve chip ejection, and resist corrosion.
These bits can be re-sharpened using a feather sharpening file.
Each bit features a 7/16" quick-release hex shank and comes in a protective plastic storage tube.
